The Right to the Digital City: From the Smart City to the Metaverse
A day to reflect on two concepts that have become increasingly popular in recent years in terms of urban spaces, two sides of the same coin, a product of the incessant digitalisation of all aspects of our lives: the smart city and the metaverse. Is the only possible future that of the metaverse and the smart city? Private spaces governed by commercial interests that big tech companies would like us to inhabit? Is it possible to move, albeit in our imagination, to other potential worlds with multiple, organic technologies, connected body to body, sensation to sensation?
The day will be divided into two parts: on the one hand talks and the other a real immersive virtual reality experience.
- Talks
Koldo Gutiérrez is a journalist and lecturer in interactive narrative at the University of Mondragón, Euneiz and ECCBI, and gives talks at various educational centres on the capacity of the medium as an artistic and transformative tool.
Eurídice Cabañes holds a PhD in Philosophy, teaches at several universities in Spain and Mexico and is Co-director of ARSGAMES, an international organisation with 15 years of experience focused on video games as a tool for social transformation.
- Immersion in virtual reality with Moviltik and Loturak Festival
Loturak Festival is a festival of new documentary formats and new digital artistic narratives that addresses the challenge of drawing attention to and representing migratory processes and their causes.
