Urban Psychology: From Psychology to Urban Design
Bilbao Metropoli-30 has launched an initiative called "Urban Psychology", in collaboration with the Bizkaia College of Psychology, the University of the Basque Country, the University of Deusto, UNED Bizkaia and Mondragon Unibertsitatea.
The main objective of the initiative is to measure the state of mind of Metropolitan Bilbao, as a collective entity, as well as its self-efficacy and coping mechanisms in the face of the health, social and economic crisis.
The design of the environments in which we live must be based on a more holistic approach, combining the visions and experiences not only of those who work on the physical aspects of the city, urban planning and design, architecture, etc. but also of those who are concerned with its intangible and soft aspects.
A sensory and emotional study of the urban world must be developed to better understand the life experience and emotional life of the city and its impact on people's well-being and mental health.
The study is directly related to ERRESONANTZIA because the "Urban Psychology" project aims to listen to how the territory vibrates, via that survey. Knowledge of people's emotional state can be considered in the design of products and services.
The meeting takes the format of a round table, with questions from the audience. Participants:
- Idoia Postigo (BM30),
- Isabel Urbano (IED Kunsthal Centro Superior de Diseño)
- Ana Mata (College of Psychology)
